SOUNDELIER

Soundelier is a 12-chanel sound installation made by the chandelier used as a prop in the theater performance Alexander Griboedov’s ‘Woe from Wit’ directing by Lefteris Vogiatzis in 1985. The installation was part of the ‘Hommage a Lefteris Vogiatzis’ in 2018 and It was com- missioned by ‘I nea skini’ theater company. Using the recordings of Lefteris Vogiatzis archive, each speaker plays pieces from different theatrical plays that Lefteris Vogiatzis directed during his lifetime. I replaced the twelve candles that existed on the chandelier with twelve mono speakers. The piece is meant to be experienced by standing underneath the Soundelier and listening to the archival recordings simultaneously.
